Mindy Rowland started Spark in November 2017. Prior to that, Mindy practiced law as a partner at DeWitt Ross & Stevens, a law firm located in Madison, Wisconsin, for 13 years. In that role, she served as the law firm’s chair of the Labor & Employment Relations Practice Group, as well as the chair of the Law Clerk Committee. Mindy counseled businesses on all aspects of employment law and litigated employment-related disputes. She also negotiated collective bargaining agreements for management, drafted employment contracts and regularly presented seminars and training sessions to both clients and trade organizations.
In 2014, Mindy took a different route. She became the Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of The Employer Group, a professional employer organization located in Verona, Wisconsin. There, she served as general counsel for the organization and worked to grow The Employer Group’s human resources consulting division. Mindy also headed up the sales for the business, resulting in impressive growth for the company, before leaving in late 2017.
Spark is Mindy’s latest venture. After nearly 17 years’ experience in the legal and HR industries, Mindy wanted to be able to provide high-level legal and HR advice to businesses, without the hefty price of law firm hourly rates or the cookie-cutter approach too many HR consultants take when it comes to human resources.
Spark offers that balance. Mindy’s legal background, human resources knowledge, business acumen and practical but innovative nature allow her to provide organizations with exactly what they need and nothing they don’t.
Mindy graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1998 and the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2001.
